Florida HIE Update: State Gateway is Live

Aug 22, 2018 | In the news

Florida Health Information Exchange Services offers a gateway solution, through Audacious Inquiry, to health care professionals interested in exchanging clinical documentation.

The State Gateway, built on industry-leading open source software, allows doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals to exchange clinical data to improve patient care.

The State Gateway is part of the Sequoia Project’s nationwide eHealth Exchange network, which includes 75% of US hospitals, over 70,000 medical groups, and key federal agencies like the US Department of Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration. Through the eHealth Exchange State Gateway participants have the opportunity to connect with hundreds of additional exchange partners. When the eHealth Exchange becomes a Carequality implementer, thousands of additional ambulatory practices will be available to connect and exchange data.

Queries are sent using Cross-Community Access (XCA) standards and return clinical documentation formatted as Continuity of Care Documents (CCD). The State Gateway will soon have the unique ability to aggregate and de-duplicate information found in multiple, distinct CCDs on the same patient, giving the end-user a consolidated view of the patient’s clinical record based on documentation retrieved from multiple providers. Participants will also be able to customize which sections of the CCD they receive, avoiding information overload by limiting their data feeds to the most relevant sections of clinical documentation.
